Complaint: I went to Firestone to get an inspection sticker put on a car I had just purchased. They kept the car overnight and by the end of the next day, I was told that it would cost me $1200 just to fix the catalytic converter to get my inspection sticker, after they charged $80 for a diagnostic and $45 for the inspection sticker. They also told me there were many, many other problems that also needed immediate repair and the total for all the repairs would be $2600. I took the car to another mechanic who fixed the car for $650 total – catalytic converter and the two other repairs Firestone recommended. Some of the things they recommended to fix were not even broken. I went back to Firestone get the inspection sticker, as Firestone allows 14 days to re-inspect if your car fails the first time, and was told that the mechanic didn’t fill out the proper paperwork for the repair and they needed him to fill out a form (they did not tell me about any other mechanic needing to fill out anything). After demanding that they fulfill their obligation and waiting an additional hour and a half, I finally got my inspection sticker. The manager was rude, contrite and seemed to try whatever he could to not do what he was supposed to for me as a customer. I now tell everyone about their inflation of prices, how they lied about some of the repairs to quote a higher price and how horrible their customer service is.
