Like many other people…I was scammed by an older black man claiming that I had a great voice for cartoons. He started by asking me for directions, and then everything went from there…he asked if i recognized him from the Cosby show, and i said he looked familiar but I didn’t watch the show all that much as a kid. I asked if i could take a picture of him and he said no, that didnt phase me because i have heard of plenty of ex-celebrities and current not wanting to take pictures. He kept the convo going, didnt even pressure me about giving me money or much of my time. He was like hey its cool if you dont want to do this…which only made me want to trust him more. He called dozens of people and showed me dozens of cards. He was friendly, charming, and not bad looking. He asked me for $390 for the voice reel, i told him that was too much. Thank goodness that I was only stupid enough to offer up $100. He would not give me a chance to call anyone in my family for advice. He even called a lady and asked how much money they could pay me and that they even had a location closer to my house than NYC (I was only visiting). I hear about this kind of stuff happening to people all the time. I personally got caught in the moment and had been looking for a side job and figured hey, maybe this is fate…but as soon as I handed over the money, I regretted it. What really made this all bad is that he threw God and fate out there as well. I hope someone catches this guy and he serves some time for this scam. Nice to know other people fell into the trap as well. From reading the other reports, it seems as if he continually lurks around the same area….day after day. I would love to run into him again and snag a picture unsuspectingly…or even see if I could get someone else to talk to him long enough to alert someone of importance. What he is doing is a crime…but no one is forcing us gullible folks to hand him any money! We should know better. Oh well, you live and you learn.
